    Corporate Members Briefing

    Iran at a Crossroads

Few world leaders can claim to have made quite the impact in their first five months in office as President Rouhani. At the World Economic Forum in January 2014 Rouhani described Iran’s economy as ‘the most congruent, capable and most closest to successful emerging economies’ and – in stark constrast to his predecessor – invited the West to ‘come and visit Iran to see the investment opportunities’. At the same time, the E3/EU+3 talks have made significant progress on agreements to curb Iran’s nuclear proliferation programme. In return the US and EU have begun the process of lifting sanctions.

In a briefing open exclusively to Asia House Corporate Members, we will be joined by Lionel Barber, Editor of The Financial Times, and other senior commentators to discuss the political and economic impact of recent events and what this could mean for businesses.

Prior to his appointment as Editor of the Financial Times in 2006 Lionel Barber served as FT Bureau Chief in Washington and Brussels before becoming News Editor in 1998 and Continental European Editor in 2000. In November 2013 Barber travelled to Tehran to interview Rouhani.
