Navigating a year of global political change
Asia House, in partnership with Nikkei, will host a private roundtable on the geopolitical dynamics shaping Europe and Asia.
2024 has been dubbed a ‘mega-election year,’ with Japan being the latest country to head to the polls following Shigeru Ishiba’s appointment as prime minister. Speaking at Asia House 10 days before the election, Dr Shogo Akagawa, Editor-in-Chief for EMEA at Nikkei, will provide expert insights on Japan’s internal political dynamics and the global implications of prime minister Ishiba’s leadership.
With new governments taking office across the globe, including a newly elected UK government and the upcoming US Presidential Election on 5 November, this roundtable will offer a comprehensive overview of the global political shifts that are shaping the future of trade, foreign policy, and business strategies.
Dr Akagawa, a prominent voice on Japanese and international relations, has interviewed leading political figures such as German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde. Dr Akagawa will bring his unique perspective to explore the challenges and opportunities for governments and businesses navigating these major transitions in leadership.
This off-the-record roundtable will be moderated by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence OBE. To register interest in attending, please email Tom Scott-Bell, Programme Producer: .
