The New Global Trade Order: Pascal Lamy, former WTO Director-General
Mr Pascal Lamy, former Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), will join Asia House Corporate Members on Monday 8 October for a private, off-the-record briefing as part of the Asia House New Global Trade Order series.
US President Donald Trump’s imposition of tariffs on steel and aluminium, citing national security concerns, as well as Washington’s move to block the appointment of new judges to WTO’s appellate court have placed the global rules-based trading system under unprecedented strain. During this briefing, Mr Lamy will provide insights for businesses on the escalating trade tensions between the US and China, the prospects of a WTO without the US, and the broader implications of President Trump’s recent trade policies on the established global order.
The former Director-General of the WTO for two terms (2005-2013) and European Trade Commissioner in Brussels (1999-2004), Mr Lamy is now President emeritus of the Jacques Delors Institute.
This briefing is for Asia House Corporate Members only. For more information, please contact Jana Psarska, Account Manager, at: jana.psarska@asiahouse.co.uk
