Nigel Huddleston MP, Minister of State for International Trade in the UK Department for Business and Trade
Appointed as UK Minister of State for International Trade in February of this year, Nigel Huddleston MP will brief Asia House Corporate Members on the UK’s international trade agenda, CPTPP accession, and ongoing trade negotiations with partners throughout Asia.
Following the UK’s accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) in 2023 and with other key trade deals with Asian partners in the pipeline, Minister Huddleston will update Asia House members on the UK’s international trade ambitions and how this fits into the government’s economic outlook. As well as outlining the opportunities and benefits for UK businesses associated with CPTPP accession and other free trade agreements, Huddleston will also reflect upon the strategic significance of the UK’s trade agenda within last month’s Integrated Review Refresh.
Having been appointed to this significant role within the newly formed Department for Business and Trade, Huddleston will discuss the priorities of the new department, and update Asia House’s corporate network on how China fits into the UK’s trade agenda including its ambitions to join CPTPP.
The in-person briefing, moderated by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence, will be convened exclusively for Asia House Corporate Members. To register interest, please email Lin Cong, Programme Producer: lin.cong@asiahouse.co.uk
