Private Briefing: Chinese Ambassador to the UK
Ahead of the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping’s State Visit to the UK in October this year, Chinese Ambassador to the UK HE Liu Xiaoming will join Asia House corporate members for a private briefing to discuss China-UK relations.
The last State Visit by a Chinese leader to the UK was 10 years ago when Xi’s predecessor Hu Jintao visited in November 2005. This visit signals a warming of ties between Britain and China and a new milestone in the relationship.
HE Liu Xiaoming is a career diplomat and has served in numerous postings around the world: as Deputy Chief of Mission at the Chinese Embassy in Washington from 1998 to 2001; Ambassador to Egypt 2001-2003; and Vice Minister in the Office of the Foreign Affairs Leading Group of the CPC Central Committee 2005-2006. Prior to his present appointment, from 2006 to 2009 he served as Ambassador to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
This event is open to Asia House corporate members only.
