HRH Prince Khalid Bin Bandar Bin Sultan, Saudi Ambassador to the UK

As Saudi Arabia prepares to host the G20 leaders’ summit on 21-22 November, Asia House will be welcoming the Kingdom’s ambassador to the UK, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for a briefing with Corporate Members.

Saudi Arabia is the only Gulf and Arab state in the G20, and its 2020 presidency is seen as a milestone moment for the Middle East and an opportunity for the Kingdom to showcase its Vision 2030 agenda with the world. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has shifted the focus, with the meeting set to define the G20’s global response to the ongoing crisis.

In a statement, the Saudi government said that the summit will focus on “protecting lives and restoring growth, by addressing vulnerabilities uncovered during the pandemic and by laying down the foundations for a better future.”

Asia House will welcome His Royal Highness on 18 November to brief Asia House Corporate Members on the expected outcomes of the summit, as well as the wider economic and political situation in Saudi Arabia. The briefing is being convened as part of the Asia House Middle East Programme.

His Royal Highness, who spoke at Asia House last year, was appointed Saudi Ambassador to the United Kingdom in 2019. Prior to that, he served as Saudi Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany from 2017 to 2019.  His Royal Highness graduated from Oxford University and Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy before commissioning from Sandhurst Military Academy. He subsequently worked at the United Nations Department of Political Affairs in New York and served as Advisor to the Saudi Ambassador to the United States. In 2006, he established Dayim Holdings, as a partnership and investment platform for international companies looking to work in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States.
