Tengku Zafrul Aziz, Minister of International Trade and Industry for Malaysia
Malaysia’s Minister of International Trade and Industry – Tengku Zafrul Aziz – will update Asia House Corporate Members on the country’s trade policy during a private briefing on 10 February.
Just months after Malaysia’s 15th General Election, in which Anwar Ibrahim was elected Prime Minister, and with the retabling of Budget 2023 due in a matter of weeks, Tengku Zafrul Aziz, Malaysia’s International Trade and Industry Minister, will discuss the government’s new economic agenda centered on digital economy and ESG. Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz will also discuss how, after several years of political turmoil, Malaysia is repositioning itself as an attractive foreign direct investment (FDI) destination in the ASEAN region.
Asia House Corporate Members will also hear about Malaysia’s trade prospects following the ratification of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz, who served as Finance Minister from 2020 to 2022, will also discuss deglobalisation and how Malaysia – a global hub in the semiconductor supply chain – is addressing the risks and opportunities that may arise as a result of this shift.
This briefing is held in-person for Asia House Corporate Members and moderated by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence. To register interest, please email Edward Danks, Programme Associate: edward.danks@asiahouse.co.uk
