The Value of Knowledge in the Fourth Industrial Revolution

University of Nottingham Global Dialogues – Hong Kong 2019:

“It’s not what you know, it’s how you think”: The Value of Knowledge in the Fourth Industrial Revolution

The University of Nottingham Global Dialogues series brings together different international perspectives to discuss the issues that shape the world. Since it was initiated in 2016, these high-profile Dialogue events have been held across the world, including in Thailand, Malaysia, the US and the UK.

The first of these Dialogues in 2019 will be held in Hong Kong. Taking place on the eve of the Festival of SPARK: The Science and Art of Creativity, this very special event marks the University of Nottingham’s continued and thriving presence in Hong Kong and is very kindly being hosted by Andy Heyn OBE, British Consul General to Hong Kong and Macau, who will give the welcome speech.

The topic for the evening will explore how the value of knowledge to individuals, business and nations will continue to change as different industries evolve to incorporate Fourth Revolution technologies; showcasing perspectives from different sectors and considering how Universities and other knowledge providers might adapt. With Hong Kong embarking on a journey of its own Fourth Industrial Revolution to diversify its economy and boost further development especially in the areas of fintech, biotech, edu-tech and smart cities, this Dialogue is a timely opportunity to discuss these issues.

    The programme is as follows:

5.45 – 6.15pm: Opening Remarks and Keynote Speech

    • The Honourable Matthew Cheung, Chief Secretary for Administration, The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

6.15 – 7.00pm: Panel Discussion on the Value of Knowledge in the Fourth Industrial Revolution
