Uzbekistan’s role in China’s Belt and Road Initiative
During Xi Jinping’s state visit to Uzbekistan in June this year, China and the Central Asian nation upgraded their ties to form a comprehensive strategic partnership. The two countries also outlined their plan for ongoing cooperation regarding the Belt and Road initiative, a China-led plan to enhance connectivity across more than 60 countries.
To elaborate on how Uzbekistan is positioning itself within the Belt and Road Initiative, Alisher Kurmanov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United Kingdom, will join Asia House corporate members for a lunch discussion. Mr Kurmanov will also discuss Uzbekistan’s role in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, which the country joined in 2001.
This private lunch discussion is for Asia House corporate members only. To register, please contact Conor Paterson in the Business & Policy Team at conor.paterson@asiahouse.co.uk or call 0207 307 5439.
