POSTPONED: Xiaolan Fu, Founding Director of the Technology and Management Centre for Development (TMCD), Professor of Technology and International Development, University of Oxford

Founding Director of the Technology and Management Centre for Development (TMCD) at the University of Oxford, Professor Xiaolan Fu, will speak with Asia House Corporate Members in an off-the-record, in-person briefing on the growth of China’s emerging technologies and its significance on an increasingly fractious global economy.

As Chinese President Xi Jinping encourages greater innovation amid tech curbs from the United States, Professor Fu will update members on China’s strategy to grow its AI, quantum computing and clean tech capabilities, as well as the risks faced by foreign business due to geopolitical tensions, regulatory restrictions, and IP challenges.

Professor Fu, who has previously consulted for the Chinese government, UKTI, and the OECD will also discuss how China’s innovation has contributed to the development of science and technology in developing countries. With 13 of the world’s top 50 patent holders of green and low-carbon technology now Chinese enterprises, Professor Fu will comment on China’s rapidly expanding innovation in this sector and its impact on the international business community.

This briefing is held in-person for Asia House Corporate Members and moderated by Charlie Humphreys, Director of Corporate Affairs.
