In the process of UK’s exit of the European Union, the transition into the World Trade Organization (WTO) as a member outside the current EU framework is an essential part for Britain’s future trade.

According to the Financial Times, UK’s Secretary of State, Liam Fox, who spoke at Asia House in February, has opened discussions with the WTO over the terms of membership after Brexit. Pascal Lamy, former WTO Director-General, said in an exclusive interview with Asia House that defaulting to WTO rules would have negative effects on the UK as well as the EU.

UK’s Ambassador to the UN and WTO, Julian Braithwaite, will brief Asia House corporate members about how the UK ensures its transition into the WTO as the country leaves the EU.
