Sir Martin Donnelly, Permanent Secretary for the Department for International Trade (DIT), joined Asia House corporate members for a private briefing and roundtable discussion this morning to discuss the current state of play of the new department that he has been brought in to set up.
Topics covered at the briefing, the latest in the Asia House Brexit Series, included DIT’s priorities ahead of Article 50 being triggered; the UK’s place within the global trade agenda; access to the single market; and passporting rights for the services sector.
The Asia House Brexit Series, which began in July with a briefing with Lord Mandelson, has encompassed a number of seminars and private briefings examining the implications of Brexit. It will continue over the upcoming months.
Corporate members represented at the briefing included HSBC, Standard Chartered, Prudential, Shell, Arup, GSK, Diageo, Rio Tinto, Heathrow Airport, Pfizer and Aggreko.
