    Alfredo E. Pascual, Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry of the Philippines, briefed Asia House Corporate Members on the Philippines’ new trade policy framework and the country’s ambitions to become a global hub of sustainability and manufacturing powerhouse on Thursday, 22 June.

    Secretary Pascual discussed Philippines’ growth forecast and spoke about how diversified investment on a global scale could benefit their economic potential. He also talked about Philippines’ ambition to become an upper middle income country by driving national growth across a variety of sectors. Secretary Pascual also provided updates on the Philippines’ economic outlook and the strengthening of its trade relations with foreign partners.

    Touching on the need for sustainability, Secretary Pascual addressed the Philippines’ growing focus on renewable energy sources, energy security and ESG. He also asserted the Philippines’ aim to become a global business hub by growing domestic investments in the fields of science, technology and innovation, along with platforming MSME and e-commerce ventures.

    Chaired by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence OBE and held at the think tank’s London headquarters, the briefing gave Asia House Corporate Members a unique insight into the future roadmap of the Philippines which aims at accelerating growth through the motto of ‘Build Better More’.
