The Republic of the Union of Myanmar’s Minister of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Daw Myat Myat Ohn Khin joined Asia House corporate members for an exclusive roundtable discussion, held under the Chatham House Rule, on the current economic and social developments taking place in the country.
The Minister was in the UK on a study visit organised by Age International.
Companies represented at the briefing included Arup, G3, Lloyds Banking Group and Prudential. ANZ, one of nine international banks to recently receive a foreign banking license to operate in Myanmar, was also represented.
Topics discussed included the outcome of the recent national census; investment in infrastructure including roads and telecommunications; the positioning of Corporate Social Responsibility within the framework of Foreign Direct Investment; and disaster and relief management.
