Competition for digital platforms for the Internet of Things (IoT), capturing economic value from it and the need for cyber security, were among the topics raised at a roundtable discussion and invitation-only briefing with McKinsey Global Institute Director James Manyika.
Interconnectivity between platforms, creating universal standards and the role of governments in that process, the applicability of new technologies to different workplaces and markets, data sovereignty and keeping up with change were also covered in the briefing.
McKinsey Global Institute published a report titled The Internet of Things: Mapping the value beyond the hype in June 2015.
