Mr. Bi Jingquan, Executive Vice Chairman of The China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), and his delegation, spoke at Asia House on Wednesday 20 September during a private, off-the-record briefing on topics related to China’s economic recovery, ongoing reforms, and areas of and collaboration with the UK.
Mr. Bi Jingquan briefed Asia House Corporate Members on China’s post-covid economic recovery and highlighted the need to promote the role of the market in allocating resources to overcome challenges. Zhang Yansheng, Chief Economist of CCIEE, discussed progress in macroeconomic indicators such as unemployment, real estate, and domestic consumption.
In the second session attended by Asia House’s corporate members, Mr. Bi Jingquan highlighted areas for increased China-UK collaboration, such as in services, the internalisation of the Renminbi, and green development. Zhang Monan, Deputy Head at Department of American and European Studies, also spoke about China’s efforts in promoting digital economy.
Mr. Bi Jingquan is also a member of the People’s Republic of China’s Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of Economic Affairs, 14th CPPCC National Committee. He was also Delegate to the 18th and 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Member of the 19th CPC Central Committee.
