Chinese Ambassador to UK shares thoughts on the future UK-China relationship

    Published On: 17 November 2021

China’s Ambassador to the UK, Zheng Zeguang, discussed UK-China ties and provided an update on China’s economy during a briefing with Asia House Corporate Members today (17 November).

The briefing – convened during a challenging moment in UK-China relations – gave Asia House Corporate Members an opportunity to hear the latest Chinese thinking on the future of the bilateral relationship.

Corporate Members joined the digital discussion from around the world to put a range of questions to the Ambassador, who took up post in June.

Issues raised included the potential for a China-UK economic dialogue; developments in financial services engagement between the two countries; and cooperation on standards and regulation. The Ambassador was also asked for his views on the US-China climate agreement struck at COP26 last week.

The briefing, chaired by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence, provided an opportunity for Corporate Members to engage with the world’s second largest economy, and a key trading partner for the UK.
