Asia House corporate members received an exclusive briefing from Kerry Brown, Professor of Chinese Studies and Director of the Lau China Institute at King’s College London, this morning on the outcomes and implications of the recent National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
Professor Brown, who’s previous roles include Head of the Asia Programme, UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and First Secretary at the British Embassy in Beijing, provided insights on the Xi Jinping leadership and the narratives emerging from the Congress. Topics discussed included the unprecedented power China now has, the Belt & Road Initiative, and China-Europe and China-US relations.
