Danny Quah assesses China’s economic slowdown

    Published On: 27 February 2019

China’s slowing economy and the latest developments in the US-China trade war were discussed this week during an Asia House briefing with Professor Danny Quah, Dean and Li Ka Shing Professor in Economics at Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

The prominent economist and commentator shared his analysis with Asia House Corporate Members in a wide-ranging discussion covering geopolitics, shifts in global trade and big data.

Professor Quah placed China’s economic slowdown in its historical context, offering predictive insights on how the economy is likely to perform, the impact this will have on the wider global economy, and what is likely to happen next in terms of trade relations with the US.

Asia House Corporate Members asked questions on geopolitical pressures, tensions around new technologies including data ownership, and the future of globalisation.

The off-the-record briefing, chaired by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence, was held exclusively for Asia House Corporate Members as part of the New Global Trade Order series.
