Mauro Petriccione, Deputy Director-General at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Trade (DG Trade), joined Asia House corporate members for a private briefing to discuss the new EU strategy and what it means for trade relations with Asia.
Discussions focused on the priorities and challenges for ongoing and future trade and investment negotiations between the EU and Asian countries including Vietnam, the Philippines and Japan. The economic benefits of existing agreements as well as the steps in the negotiation process and the implications of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) were also examined.
Arup, Bupa, GlaxoSmithKline, GSK, Heathrow, G3, Howard Kennedy, HSBC, Mitsui & Co Europe, Nikkei, Prudential, PwC and Standard Chartered were among those companies represented at the table.
