Asia House corporate members received insights into the EU’s Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) within East Asia this morning, during a briefing from Philippe Duponteil, Head of Unit Far East at the Directorate General for Trade of the European Commission.
Mr Duponteil is responsible for trade relations with China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Mongolia, Hong Kong and Macao. His visit was part of Asia House’s ‘New Global Trade Order’ briefing series, which aims to give members a clearer understanding of the latest developments in global trade.
Topics discussed included the outlook for the EU-Japan FTA negotiations, China’s Belt and Road Initiative, amendments to the EU-South Korea FTA and the negotiations on the UK’s departure from the European Union.
