Jon Lambe outlines UK engagement with ASEAN

    Published On: 26 October 2021

With the UK recently securing Dialogue Partner status with ASEAN and works towards CPTPP accession, Asia House welcomed the UK’s Ambassador to ASEAN, Jon Lambe, for a briefing with Corporate Members.

Ambassador Lambe gave an overview of UK engagement with the bloc, and outlined the key areas where the UK aims to develop stronger ties with ASEAN – as well as some of the key challenges facing the region.

Asia House Corporate Members joined the off-the-record discussion from around the world, with a range of questions being put to the Ambassador. Issues raised included ASEAN’s growth prospects, trends in the region’s tech sector, and ASEAN’s role in global supply chains. Ambassador Lambe was also asked about what the UK is expecting from ASEAN at the upcoming COP26 summit in Glasgow.

Moderated by Charlie Humphreys, Director of Corporate Affairs at Asia House, the discussion provided an opportunity for Asia House Corporate Members to engage with a key UK figure in one of the world’s fastest-growing regions.
