Efforts to incentivise investment in Lebanon and the country’s ambitions for its tech sector were discussed during an Asia House briefing with His Excellency Adel Afiouni, Lebanese Minister of State for Investment and Technology.
Tech has become a key area of focus for the Lebanese government, and the Minister outlined the country’s progress in developing its innovation sector and the steps it’s taking to attract investment.
The Minister was joined by the Lebanese Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Rami Mortada, for the off-the-record briefing, which also explored the business and regulatory environment in the country.
The lively discussion, moderated by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence, saw participation from business and tech figures around the table who asked questions on a range of issues, from the markets Lebanon can emulate as it develops its tech sector, to the efforts it is making to reduce bureaucracy for innovators.
The briefing, held on 3 June, was organised as part of the Asia House Middle East Programme – a series of briefings and conferences driving engagement with the region.
