Leo Lewis, the Financial Times’ Asia Business Editor briefs Asia House on business and consumer developments in Asia

    Published On: 26 June 2024

Leo Lewis, the Financial Times’ Asia Business Editor, provided Asia House Corporate Members with the latest updates on business and market trends in Asia at an off-the-record briefing on Wednesday 26 June.

Lewis addressed the shifting demographics across Asia and their impact on consumer behaviour and labour markets. The briefing also covered Japan’s China+1 strategy, efforts to mitigate risks in supply chains throughout Asia, and the markets that are benefiting from this strategic realignment.

Asia House Corporate Members asked Lewis’ views on a wide range of topics, including the potential for further financial decoupling between China and the West, the role of immigration in addressing labour shortages in Asian economies, and the balancing act between decarbonisation and energy security in Japan.

Chaired by Asia House Director of Corporate Affairs Charlie Humphreys, the briefing offered Asia House Corporate Members a valuable opportunity to engage with a prominent voice reporting from Asia.
