Mark Gooding OBE, British Ambassador to Thailand briefed Asia House Corporate Members on the 2023 Thai general election and the country’s political and economic outlook on Wednesday, 7 June.

The briefing extensively focused on the results of Thai general election held last month and reflected upon the insights on what it could potentially mean for Thailand’s future. Ambassador Gooding highlighted the changes in the Thai electoral processes, along with discussing what the current political establishment in Thailand aims to achieve. He also emphasised on Thailand’s efforts to attract investment by signing the UK-Thai FTA, increasing participation with the ASEAN lobby and building bilateral socio-economic relations.

Chaired by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence OBE and held at the think tank’s London headquarters, the briefing gave Asia House Corporate Members a unique insight into UK’s current strategic outlook on Thailand, along with the potential regional impact of the general election in an increasingly complex geopolitical environment.
