Following the very successful Invest Philippines conference organised by Asia House in October 2013, Philippine Finance Secretary Cesar V Purisima visited Asia House on Thursday 3 July for a private lunch briefing exclusively for Asia House corporate members.
Secretary Purisima was accompanied by Ma. Cyd Tuaño-Amador, Assistant Governor, MPSS, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas; Rosalia V De Leon, National Treasurer, Bureau of the Treasury, Philippines; and Robert Vergara, President and General Manager, Government Service Insurance System of the Philippines.
The topics of the roundtable discussion, held under the Chatham House Rule, included the Philippines’ success with economic growth, the economic impact of the Typhoon Haiyan natural disaster, opportunities for FDI, trade regulation, monetary policy, corruption and governance, ASEAN integration, territorial disputes and the impact of remittances to the Philippines from non-resident citizens.
Companies represented at the briefing included Arup, Diageo, HSBC, Instinctif Partners, Jardine Matheson, GlaxoSmithKline, Prudential and Standard Chartered Bank.
