Professor Kerry Brown shares his insights on current developments in China

    Published On: 20 January 2023

The latest political and economic developments in China, and their implications for UK-China relations, were discussed during an Asia House briefing with Kerry Brown, Professor of Chinese Studies and Director of the Lau China Institute at King’s College London.

Speaking with Asia House Corporate Members, Professor Brown reflected on the domestic situation in China, as well as the policy directions that emerged from October’s National Party Congress.

The briefing gave Corporate Members a unique opportunity to ask Professor Brown about a plethora of issues around UK-China relations.

Professor Brown was asked about the political consequences of last year’s protests in China, as well as the Chinese government’s recent relaxing of COVID-19 restrictions. He also fielded questions around the geopolitical situation in the region and UK trade relations with China in the off-the-record briefing, chaired by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence.

Held at the think tank’s London headquarters, the briefing provided Corporate Members with key updates on China from a world-renowned thought leader.
