Philippe Duponteil, Head of Unit Far East at the Directorate General for Trade of the European Commission, briefed Asia House corporate members this morning on the EU’s position on trade with China and the US.
Mr Duponteil covered a range of current issues, from the EU’s trade relationships to likely developments in the ongoing trade dispute between China and the US. He also provided updates on upcoming trade negotiations and some of the challenges facing the the world trading architecture.
It was a timely briefing, coming as the US threatens new tariffs that could affect the EU and China’s agreement to buy more US products likely to squeeze key EU economies such as Germany.
The briefing was part of the Asia House New Global Trade Order series. As with all Asia House briefings, it aimed to provide unique and informed insights and analysis to members of the Asia House network.
