    Thai Central Bank Governor briefs Asia House Corporate Members

    Veerathai Santiprabhob, Governor of the Bank of Thailand, briefed Asia House corporate members this morning on the state of the Thai economy and the reform efforts currently underway.

    Veerathai Santiprabhob has been the Governor of the Bank of Thailand since 2015, with overall responsibility to promote financial stability and manage financial systems and institutions.

    In an interesting briefing the Governor gave insights into the macro-economic situation in Thailand as well as new reforms centred around innovation. These include the Eastern Economic Corridor, enhancing internet connectivity and promoting digital financial services and fintech initiatives.

    Asia House corporate members had the chance to gain insights from the Governor, with questions on education and skills development, Thailand’s fiscal situation and macro-prudential policy, capital markets and financial market developments.

    Dr Ampon Kittiampon, Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Thailand, also joined the discussion. He was able to give insights based on his dual role as Chairman of the Board and as a member of parliament.
