Mark Garnier, Minister for Investment at the UK Department for International Trade, briefed Asia House corporate members on investment and trade policy post-Brexit. Topics discussed included the renewed trade focuses as outlined in the recent trade policy white paper, the Ministers recent travel to Malaysia and South Korea and priority markets for future UK engagement.
Mark was appointed as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for International Trade in July 2016 after Theresa May became Prime Minister and created the Department. Prior to this position, he was the Prime Minister’s trade envoy to Myanmar, Brunei and Thailand. He also served on the Treasury Select Committee (2010 – 2016) and the Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards (2012 – 2014).
