    Philippine delegation briefs Asia House Corporate Members

    A senior delegation from the Philippines visited Asia House on Monday to brief Corporate Members on the country’s economic outlook.

    Ramon M. Lopez, Secretary of Trade and Industry; Benjamin E. Diokno, Secretary of Budget and Management; Ernesto M. Pernia, Secretary of Socioeconomic Planning; and Diwa C. Guinigundo, Deputy Governor of the Monetary Stability Sector, Central Bank Philippines, took part in an insightful discussion on the Philippines’ role in the global value chain.

    The Philippine Ambassador to the UK, Ambassador Antonio Manuel R. Lagdameo, also attended the briefing, which was chaired by Asia House Chief Executive, Michael Lawrence.

    In a wide ranging discussion, the delegation covered the current state of the Philippines’ economy, the sectors where particular growth is expected and the effects of the US-China trade war. The need for infrastructure development was also discussed – the topic of a second briefing taking place at Asia House on Wednesday 26 September.

    The delegation are in the UK as part of an economic investment roadshow, and came to Asia House to engage with its network of major corporates.
