Profile: Apoorva Vishnoi, Asia House Fellow

Apoorva Vishnoi graduated from the London School of Economics having studied an LLM with an International Business Law Specialisation. Alongside her studies, Apoorva worked as a researcher with the LSE Trade Policy Hub, preparing a Semiconductor Handbook for the UK Embassy in South Korea.

Prior to this, Apoorva spent three years with the think tank Centre for Trade and Investment Law under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, New Delhi. Through her work with the Ministry, she was involved in negotiating India’s trade agreements with the European Union, the United Kingdom, the UAE, Australia, Chile and Mauritius, which provided her with insight into the challenges involved in the new generation of trade agreement negotiations. In addition to this, Apoorva has written for a number of publications on trade issues.

Apoorva’s work with Asia House will look at mapping the innovation gap in trade agreements in Asia vis-à-vis the agreements negotiated by the EU and the US. She will explore the factors responsible for this gap with the aim of improving the effectiveness of trade agreements for businesses in Asian countries and to better reflect local economic, social, environmental and other policy interests in these agreements. This project reflects Apoorva’s keen interest in exploring the intersection of international economic law, international relations and public policy.
