Asia House Annual Outlook 2025 – Asia’s economies to power ahead in the face of global turbulence

    VIEW THE REPORT

The Asia House Annual Outlook 2025 projects that Asia’s economies will drive global growth, propelled by strong consumer demand, growing intra-regional trade and technological advancements.

We forecast that India, Vietnam and the Philippines will be the region’s star performers and that Indonesia’s and Malaysia’s growth will remain strong. The pace of China’s expansion is expected to slow to 4 per cent, with the extent of the slowdown hinging on upcoming stimulus measures.

Digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology will be the main drivers of Asia’s growth. The rapid adoption of these technologies is set to raise productivity, expand financial inclusion and open new markets for trade.

2025 promises to be a turbulent year on the geopolitical front. Trump’s return to the White House and his threat of widespread tariffs poses the greatest risk to Asia’s export-led growth. However, Asia’s growing intra-regional trade and strong domestic demand will boost resilience.

Our research adopts a multidisciplinary approach, drawing on our growth forecasts for eight major economies as well as engagement with around 100 experts via international roundtables and a business perceptions survey.

The Asia House Annual Outlook 2025 was authored by Matilda Buchan, Senior Analyst at Asia, with contributions from Phyllis Papadavid, Former Director of Research, Asia House and currently Senior Research Fellow at ODI Global as contributing author.
