Asia House Brexit Series: UK Minister Greg Hands
The Minister of State for Trade and Investment at the Department for International Trade (DIT) Greg Hands MP, will join Asia House corporate members for a private briefing on his role and priorities within the new UK department.
Mr Hands leads on high value export and investment campaigns in technology and smart cities, infrastructure, energy, healthcare and life sciences. His responsibilities also include cross-Whitehall alignment, UK Export Finance (UKEF), policy direction on topics such as mergers and acquisitions and overseas direct investment.
Mr Hands has been a Government Minister since October 2011. He served first as the Treasury Whip, 2011 – 2013, and then as Government Deputy Chief Whip and Treasurer of Her Majesty’s Household, 2013-15. Following the May 2015 General Election, Mr Hands attended Cabinet as Chief Secretary to the Treasury under the then Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne. Outside of politics he spent eight years working on trading floors in London and New York trading and marketing fixed income derivatives.
