UAE Ministry of Economy endorses Asia House Dubai conference

    Published On: 11 February 2019

The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Economy has announced its official support for Asia House’s upcoming The Future of Trade: The Middle East’s Pivot to Asia conference, held in partnership with DMCC at Almas Tower, Dubai, on 24 March 2019.

Leading figures from government, trade, investment, and technology will take part in the conference to share predictive analysis on the shifts taking place within the world economy.

“This is a seminal event, and one designed precisely to tackle some of the most pressing economic issues of the day,” His Excellency Abdulla Al Saleh, Undersecretary for Foreign Trade at the UAE Ministry of Economy (pictured), said.

“The UAE has made significant strides forward in securing sustainable and inclusive growth against a challenging global economic backdrop. Understanding how best to navigate this difficult landscape, and drive progress towards economic prosperity, is a priority for cities and governments across the world. This will be the focus of the Dubai event and for that reason, I have no doubt it will draw international interest,” he added.

The major trade dialogue follows the successful New Global Trade Order conference – held by Asia House and DMCC in Dubai last year – and Asia House’s successful conferences in Hong Kong (2017) and Singapore (2018).

The conference reflects Asia House’s commitment to driving engagement with the Middle East and highlights the region’s trade links with Asia and Europe.

Lord Green, Chairman of Asia House, said: “Given the region’s increasing importance to global trade and investment, Asia House is placing a greater focus on the Middle East. We have launched a Middle East Programme to ensure our stakeholders gain access to the most accurate insights and analysis, and we are committed to holding major events in the region.”

In January, Asia House and DMCC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to bring a series of high-profile trade dialogues to the Middle East. The signing was announced during a meeting held at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in London, and in the presence of His Excellency Sulaiman Hamid Almazroui, United Arab Emirates Ambassador to the United Kingdom, and Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint, Chairman of Asia House.

“DMCC is delighted to partner with Asia House and host a gathering of political and business leaders to discuss trade at this crucial juncture for the global economy,” said Feryal Ahmadi, Chief Operating Officer, DMCC.

“Since its inception in 2002, DMCC has always looked to serve and support Dubai in achieving its bold economic vision. Our event will not only discuss the scale of the present challenge but also explore how business and governments can work together to deliver economic prosperity and growth.” she added.

The conference, sponsored by HSBC and ABP Royal Albert Dock London, will see delegates give keynote speeches and take part in range of high-level discussions on the future of global trade, renewable energy and digital technologies – all held on the record and open to media.

Confirmed speakers at the conference include:

    • His Excellency Abdulla Al Saleh – Undersecretary for Foreign Trade, UAE Ministry of Economy
    • Ahmed Bin Sulayem – Executive Chairman, DMCC
    • Lord Green of Hurstpierpoint – Chairman, Asia House
