Asia House Middle East Programme: ‘The Open Futures of the Middle East’
The ‘changing patterns of trade’ in the Middle East will be one of the issues covered by Lord Green, Chairman of Asia House, in a public talk focusing on the region.
The lecture, held at Asia House on Tuesday 10 April, will see Lord Green discuss the transformations taking place in the Middle East, heralded by greater urbanisation and connectivity. The increasing influence of Asian economies in the region, and projects such as China’s Belt and Road Initiative, will also be explored.
The lecture will publicly launch the Asia House Middle East Programme – a series of private briefings, public events and research activity exploring the Middle East’s role in the global economy and its relationships with Asia and the West.
On 1 March, UK Middle East Minister at the FCO, Alistair Burt, briefed Asia House corporate members as part of the Middle East Programme, which will also see a major Asia House conference take place in Dubai in April.
Lord Green has extensive experience in global trade and finance, having spent most of his career in finance. He is the former Group Chief Executive and Group Chairman of HSBC, and served as UK Minister of State for Trade, 2011-2013.
Lord Green has been Chairman of Asia House since January 2017.
