Alok Sharma outlines UK climate aims ahead of COP26

    Published On: 5 December 2020

Asia House Corporate Members were briefed on the UK’s climate change agenda this week (Friday 4 December) by Alok Sharma, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Minister for COP26.

With the UK hosting COP26 next year, the Minister outlined the UK’s progress in working towards green growth, and provided an overview of global efforts to tackle climate change.

Asia House Corporate Members joined the discussion from around the world, with Sharma taking questions on COP26 and wider environmental issues. Topics included the need for international engagement on climate change; the role of finance in the ‘race to zero’ carbon emissions; and the need for global rules and reskilling to assist energy transitions.

Using COP26 to promote UK services and investment opportunities was also discussed in the off-the-record digital briefing, chaired by Asia House Chief Executive Michael Lawrence.
